What’s in a name
TAI is where we come from, and what we do for each other.

TAI Our ethos
Taiwanese American Innovation. We believe in bold action, pursuing daring projects not done before. Our diligence and entrepreneurial spirit combines the best of both backgrounds; we are Taiwanese Americans, for Taiwanese Americans.

台 Taiwan
TAI is also 台 (tái), the first character of 台灣, Taiwan. It is the island at the root of our heritage. Colloquially, if someone is very 台, they are very Taiwanese. We believe that being 台 should not be gatekept.

抬 To lift
Give 台 a hand (literally, with the radical 扌), and it becomes 抬, as in 抬起, to raise up. We lift each other up. Our work is cooperative and collaborative in nature; we can only make a large impact collectively.
Our Purpose
Taiwanese America is at a critical crossroads. We must be caretakers of our future.
What does it mean to be Taiwanese American?
As the landscape of our community changes, growing deeper into the second, third, and later generations, we must remember our roots while adapting to the changing visions of our identity.
TAI Collective exists to advance the visibility and representation of Taiwanese Americans in all walks of life. We make sure the heritage, history, and language that shaped us are carried forward.

Formosa Retold
Making Taiwanese history accessible to a new generation through interactive online media, books, and other formats.

TAI Language Lab
A heritage learner program for Tâi-gí (Taiwanese Hokkien), built for diaspora learners reconnecting with a language fading away.

The Firefly Route
A traveling museum bringing specific pieces of Taiwanese history and culture into public spaces, for audiences who might never seek them out otherwise.
